Despite having yet to share my personal story, this woman's foray into modesty is quite interesting and inspiring. Check it out!

The "M" Word
Lets talk about that dreaded “M” word. You know, the one that conjures up images of prudish women, in shame based patriarchal societies. The word that sets feminists into a tizzy and makes even the most mild mannered of individuals cringe. If you haven’t guessed by now I am referring to Modesty.
A brief glance back through history and it’s not hard to see why modesty has become a dirty word. Improper enforcement of modesty in dress, action and speech has led many to run, even sprint to the other extreme out of a sheer need for self expression and freedom. And who could blame them. Most people don’t respond well to being told what to do, especially when it comes to what you wear and how you behave. We’re talking about the most personal means of self expression! So doesn’t it only stand to reason that modesty MUST equate to oppression of ones very sense of self? After all don’t “clothes make the (wo)man?”
This is where I would like to start the conversation. My intentions of this blog are not to preach modesty to people- “cover up or burn for ever in the eternal fire” and such. Rather I hope to inspire through; shared experiences, tutorials and a dynamic (and hopefuly amicable) dialogue, how modesty can not only be an empowering word but also a means to greater and more fulfilling sense of self.
